Regarding: One Frustrated Writer's Angry Cry For Help

Hi Friend,

I can laugh about it now, but I can't tell you how TOTALLY FURIOUS I was when I read those words on my computer screen. And that's the censored version. I can't print the actual text.

Trust me when I tell you that I was so outraged that I almost threw my computer monitor out the window out of sheer anger!

Why was I so ticked?

Because that was the reply I received back from a guy I had gone out of my way TO HELP.

He was one of my newsletter subscribers to whom I had sent a long email to in response to his question on how to go sell his book online.

And he thanks me by cussing ME out?? WHAT A JERK!

I was about to send him a reply telling him to stick his stupid book where the sun didn't shine when it hit me like a ton of bricks:

It's no wonder that most of the writers that I consult with are ready to pull their hair out when it comes to trying to sell their books and digital products online.

Unless you're a computer wizard or pay someone big bucks to do it for you, selling your work online can be a lot like pulling teeth without anesthetic!

Ask any writer who has tried it and you'll find that's NO EXAGERATION!

• It was at that moment that my anger disappeared and I decided to accept the challenge to come up with a quick, easy and convenient way that anyone, regardless of computer or technical skill level, could easily sell their ebooks or digital products online.

• I knew I had to make the process as simple as "TYPE, POINT, AND CLICK" for it to be really useful to writers.

• Writers should spend their time writing and marketing their work, not trying to hack together a website.

I'm a writer. I know what I'm talking about.

That's why I'm happy to report to you today that I have accomplished that goal and more, but I'll tell you more on that in a minute...

1. You have to first write the book. And when it comes to selling online, that can be the easiest part.

2. Then you have to convert the finished book file to a digital format that is suitable for selling online, usually a PDF file that can be read on all computer platforms or an EXE ebook that can only be viewed on Windows.

   PROBLEM: To convert the file you'll need a program like Adobe Acrobat (retail $449) or an ebook generator software that can cost as much as $149.

3. Then you have to set up a webpage from which to sell your ebook. If you don't have HTML skills you'll have to pay someone to design your webpage, pay someone to host your site, pay someone to register a domain name, and a dozen other details.

   PROBLEM: This part of the process alone can cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars and can take dozens and dozens of hours to complete.

4. Then you have to pay someone to set up a shopping cart and payment processing system that will allow customers to buy directly from your website. This involves installing shopping cart software on your website, getting a bank merchant account or online deposit system, and finding a company to process the credit cards. Talk about a pain!

   PROBLEM: There will be software license fees and credit card processing fees and bank merchant account fees. It can add up to thousands of dollars up front and eat into a huge percentage of your sales every month.

5. Once your site is finally done, you will need to upload your converted ebook file to your hosting web server. This will require a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software and a direct connection to your web server. This isn't an expensive process since you can get FTP software for free, but it will require that you at least install the FTP program on your computer and learn to use it properly.

   PROBLEM: One mistake and you could wipe out your whole site and find yourself right back at square one, so be careful!

6. Once you have the website and shopping cart set up and your ebook file uploaded to your server, you're ready to process orders that come into the website. Or at least you should be. This means that when someone clicks on your website to buy your ebook, you have an automated system in place that either approves or declines their payment and if the transaction is successful, emails a link or the actual ebook to the customer.

   PROBLEM: Trust me, even if you sell just a few books a week you must have this part of the process automated because doing it manually is a nightmare! Automation software can cost hundreds of dollars to purchase and you'll have to pay even more to have a programmer install the software on your site.

7. And it doesn't stop there. Even after you deliver your ebook to the customer you have to provide technical support. What if they didn't receive the download email? Or the file they received was corrupt? What if they have questions or want a refund? Would you even know what to say?

   PROBLEM: As the saying goes, "Service doesn't stop with the sale." You must be available and ready to handle any customer issues that come your way, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

As I said before, at the time I could've choked the guy, but after thinking it over it was easy to see why he was frustrated. He wasn't really angry at me; he was angry at THE PROCESS.
